ACT I

Hirri has spent his long life on Jupiter admiring the Sun from afar, certain that she is his one true love. After the most majestic sunrise he has ever seen and the encouragement of his fellow Jovians, Hirri leaves Jupiter to travel across the galaxy to finally meet the Sun. Along the way, he passes the orbiting satellite Juno, the playful Galilean moons, and the dazzling constellations that fill the cosmos. All the while, he keeps the dream of his lady love on his mind. Among all the bright wonders of the universe, Hirri also discovers the contemplative and awe-enducing nature of being surrounded by the great big emptiness and darkness of outer space. His moment of self-reflection is interrupted as the caroming minor planets of the asteroid belt hurtle Hirri out of stillness and into the militaristic, hard surface of Mars. Hirri’s first interplanetary visit does not go as expected as he finds the disciplined Martians there have no time to deal with tourists.

ACT II

After being kicked off of Mars, Hirri awakes on the planet Earth where he receives warm welcome by Terra. Being the embodiment of earth—an element Hirri has never known on Jupiter—Terra takes it upon herself to show Hirri all Earth has to offer. She introduces him to the elements of water and fire, and teaches him how they interact with each other and earth. Though tempted to stay on Earth with Terra for longer, Hirri is reminded that his true quest is to reach the Sun. He reluctantly leaves Earth with parting gifts from Terra. The next planet is in great juxtoposition with Earth. Venus threatens Hirri with a toxic, sweltering atmosphere inhabited by menacing Venusians. He is chased off the inhospitable planet and makes his way to the cold, lonely planet of Mercury. Hirri pushes through the depression, pulled by his desire to reach his true target. And then there it is: The Sun. Unfortunately for Hirri, the reality does not match his dream. A solar flare whisks Hirri away and sends him back home to Jupiter. But he does not return emptihanded…
